2012 Public Artist Workshops

Learn how to make your own yarn! This workshop is an introduction to the ancient craft of drop spindling and yarn making.  Participants will learn the basics of how to choose wool and fibres, how to prepare and card fibres, the basics of drop spindling and how to ply yarn with a drop spindle.  Participants will receive their own drop spindle and a bag of dyed wool to take home with them.

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE UNTIL THURSDAY JULY 12TH, 2012.  We will resume registration onsite on Friday July 13th at 5pm, onsite at the Midnight Sun Complex.  If a workshop is full online, don't fret!  We have reserved spaces for walk up registration.  Make sure to visit us early to get a spot in your desired workshop!

We feature over 65 workshops for the public over the course of the Festival.  These are offered by our attending artists and run 2-8 hours in length.  They cover a variety of subjects, styles and artforms and range from formal visual arts to literary and traditional performing arts.

Workshops are extremely popular and are a strong drawing point for both local and travelling visitors to the Festival.  Workshops are available for online registration; but book early, as many fill up quickly. Limited spots held for on-site walkup bookings.
