Midnight Sun Recreation Complex Arena (map)
In this workshop participants will explore and learn various techniques of how to apply acrylic gels and mediums to create a highly textured and impasto feeling painting. Partipants will also learn how to apply layered glazes and stains to create rich colors and dimension to a painting. This workshop will take place over two days to allow for certain mediums to dry and cure. Particpants are asked to bring an image or object as a source for inspiration to work from to the workshop. In addition, though not necessary particpants are encouraged to bring their own tools for creating textures (i.e. forks, combs, sculpting tools, things from nature) (Anything they think would create an interesting textural imprint.) The sky is the limit. All participants will go home with a finished painting on a stretched canvas. Due to the nature of the medium and drying time, this workshop will take place over two afternoons beginning Tuesday July 17th at 1pm, and continuing Wednesday July 18th at 1pm.
