2012 Public Artist Workshops

Midnight Sun Recreation Complex Arena (map)

During this four hour workshop participants will use deer rawhide and a wooden frame to complete a 15 inch drum and stick in the Cree style. This style involves lacing the rawhide round around the back of the frame. The students then fabricate a Cree style drum stick. As a bonus participants will also learn about the various drum cultures of Canada's Aboriginal people.

Facilitator: Michel Labine ~ Fort Smith NT
