Midnight Sun Recreation Complex Carving Tent (map)
In this workshop, Marion  will take through the process of carving a beluga whale. You will begin by selecting your stone and sawing it out from the block. Marion will teach you how to handle a dremal drill to rough out the shape of your whale. From here you will work with hand tools to define the characteristics of the beluga whale. To finish soap stone you will use a variety of sand paper to make your piece shine.

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE UNTIL THURSDAY JULY 12TH, 2012.  We will resume registration onsite on Friday July 13th at 5pm, onsite at the Midnight Sun Complex.  If a workshop is full online, don't fret!  We have reserved spaces for walk up registration.  Make sure to visit us early to get a spot in your desired workshop!

We feature over 65 workshops for the public over the course of the Festival.  These are offered by our attending artists and run 2-8 hours in length.  They cover a variety of subjects, styles and artforms and range from formal visual arts to literary and traditional performing arts.

Workshops are extremely popular and are a strong drawing point for both local and travelling visitors to the Festival.  Workshops are available for online registration; but book early, as many fill up quickly. Limited spots held for on-site walkup bookings.
